General Aviation Joint Steering Committee Iniatives
Enhanced Aeronautical Decision-making
The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee’s (GA-JSC) Joint Safety Analysis Team has identified deficiencies in aeronautical decision-making (ADM) as a primary or contributing factor in several fatal GA accidents. To address this problem, the GA-JSC recently agreed to carry out several of the specific initiatives recommended by the analysis team. In addition:
- The FAA has developed training documents and curriculum for use in flight instructor refresher clinics (FIRC), new flight review guidance (PDF) that emphasizes ADM, and risk management teaching tools for flight instructors.
- The AOPA Air Safety Foundation has developed a new live seminar on aeronautical decision-making.
