FAA TV: Improving Runway Safety Areas: Preventing Future Violations

From 2000 to 2015, FAA focused on improving RSAs, surveying more than 1000 runways throughout major commercial service airports across the U.S. Since 2009, the FAA’s Engineering Services Division of Technical Operations completed over 1400 improvement projects, correcting more than 2300 violations. A major focus of this work is preventing re-introducing violations into RSAs as new construction or installation of systems takes place.
