Assistant Administrator for Human Resource Management

Annie B. Andrews On November 1, 2015, Annie B. Andrews began her Federal career as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Assistant Administrator for Human Resource Management, AHR-1. In this role, she is responsible for strategic partnership with FAA leadership and human resource (HR) services for over 46,000 workforce personnel. Ms. Andrews provides executive leadership for HR programs and policies, operations, employee and labor relations, corporate learning and development, employee safety, and workers compensation.

After a 32-year career in the Navy, in September 2015, Ms. Andrews retired at the Flag Rank of Rear Admiral. Her decorated Naval career includes tours of duty as Chief of the Requirements Branch and Joint Manpower Planner with the Washington Joint Staff, the Executive Assistant and Naval Aide to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, and as Senior Fellow on the Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group at the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island.

Ms. Andrews brings a wealth of HR knowledge and expertise to the role of Assistant Administrator for Human Resource Management. More specifically, Ms. Andrews’ possesses an extensive background in personnel management, recruitment and training. Highlights of Ms. Andrews’ military career includes: commanding officer of Boston Military Entrance Processing Station, Navy Recruiting District San Francisco, and Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes. In her most recent military assignment, Ms. Andrews served as the Commander, Navy Recruiting Command. As the Navy's top recruiter and principle advisor to the Chief of Naval Personnel on recruitment strategy and objectives, she led recruitment efforts for officer and enlisted programs in both the Active Duty and Reserve components.

Ms. Andrews holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Savannah State University, a Master of Science degree in Management from Troy State University, and has been conferred an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Wilson College in Pennsylvania. Her military education includes a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff; she is also a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College.

Ms. Andrews was a recipient of the 2013 "Stars & Stripes" award for Leadership, and the 2015 Women of Color Lifetime Achievement.
