Traffic Flow Management production Center

The TFMS supports the FAA's traffic management personnel as they coordinate daily use of the National Airspace System. The system receives information about scheduled flights, forecasts demand several hours ahead, and helps resolve congestion issues. The old system relied on 25-year old code and outdated technology, which limited its capacity. The new system provides the functionality and architecture needed to take the FAA into NextGen, and paves the way for improved traffic management technologies. The modernized TFMS uses a state-of-the-art, open-architecture platform that increases development bandwidth, facilitates integration with other domains, and improves TFM performance and capacity. The new system will be able to expand to accommodate the anticipated growth in traffic, in coming years.
