WHAT IS STORYBOARDING?

Icons representing Collaboration

NAS Animated Storyboard is an online set of animations that demonstrate how the various programs or capabilities of the NextGen's National Airspace System (NAS) operate. Storyboarding is a way of communicating and understanding how our NAS works using animation. Storyboards show the major message flow and interaction among programs, facilities, systems and people.

HISTORY OF THE STORYBOARD

The NAS Storyboard’s Team Lead, Harry Bilicki, once used refrigerator magnets and sharpies on Thanksgiving evening to show friends and family how complex aviation technologies worked. Inspired, Bilicki started the NAS Storyboard Team to create an interactive, innovative tool that allows for complex systems to come to life through animation. Years later, more than 60 animations have been developed to educate individuals on the current NAS systems, programs and capabilities.
