Airport Cable Loop (ACL)
The ACL program delivers critical functionality to the NAS by providing inter-facility communications between the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and other equipment installed at each airport across the United States. The ACL Sustainment Program intends to replace legacy, non-standardized telecommunications equipment with new, standardized Next Generation equipment and fiber solutions to improve reliability, serviceability, and maintainability at airports across the country.

Key Capabilities
- Standardizes ACL communications equipment and configurations at airports across the country
- Consolidates Add-Drop multiplexers and Channel Banks functionality into one box, known as the Dedicated Network Telecommunications System (DNTS)

Benefits
- Mitigates risk caused by deteriorated copper and fiber infrastructure and obsolescent telecommunications hardware which is no longer supported by vendors
- Improved performance, reliability, and safety from redundant data paths created by utilizing a ring configuration
- Provide insight and visibility into network service configuration and operations
- Cost savings via coordinated fiber-optic installations with other airport construction projects, such as tower relocations and runway projects
