Program Description

Interval Management (IM)

The objective of Interval Management (IM) is to improve the efficiency in the flow of air traffic in the National Airspace System (NAS). This is accomplished by precisely managing the interval spacing between aircraft in both the en-route and terminal environments. IM will utilize Automated Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast In (ADS-B In) technology that directly receives ADS-B signals from other aircraft. The en-route implementation of IM will improve throughput in highly congested areas of traffic. Similarly, the terminal implementation of IM will result in controller delivered IM clearances being executed with high precision.
