Program Description
Remote Tower (RT)
Remote Towers allow Air Traffic Control Specialists to provide near real-time tower services using cameras, sensors, and digital technology to remotely replicate the functionality of a traditional control tower.

Key Capabilities
- Provides 360-degree video surveillance of the airport environment
- Allows ATC Specialists to be located at off-airport location
- Initially utilized in Class D airspace, typically surrounding small airports

Benefits
- Improves cost efficiency by eliminating the need for physical control towers
- Enables ATC service in remote areas where otherwise not economically viable.
- Provides input and updates to the FAA’s Functional Acceptance Evaluation (FAE) process
