Commercial Space Transportation (CST)

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST) is responsible for regulating and licensing, as well as promoting and encouraging private commercial launch and reentry operations within the National Airspace System (NAS).

Key Capabilities

Key Capabilities

  • The Space Data Integrator (SDI), developed by AST, will provide Air Traffic Control (ATC) with the means to track launch and reentry operations with respect to the impact those operations have on commercial air traffic
  • Licensing and regulation of spaceports within the NAS
