Program Description

Time Division Multiplexing to Internet Protocol (TDM to IP)

The Time Division Multiplexing to Internet Protocol (TDM-to-IP) program was established by the FAA to cooperate with FAA programs and manage systems that are dependent on TDM-based services as they transition to an IP-compatible solution before telecommunication providers can discontinue legacy TDM-based services to customers across the country.

Key Capabilities

Key Capabilities

  • Determine which NAS systems are dependent on TDM
  • Facilitate discussions with portfolio programs on the phasing out of TDM
  • Develop program level agreements (PLAs)
  • Test NAS interface solution sets
  • Develop cost and schedule estimates
  • Allocate funding to the three primary solutions previously defined
  • Coordinate with FENS to minimize duplication of effort for network provided conversion solutions and deployment
Program Benefits

Benefits

  • NAS System Modernization - Modernizes systems to use standard IP/Ethernet interfaces
  • System Interface Conversion - Implements a conversion solution on the user/customer side of the network demarcation point
  • Network Provided Conversion - Implements a conversion solution on the network side of the demarcation point
