As the Vice President of System Operations Services for the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), Michael C. Artist is responsible for leading diverse programs to ensure the efficiency and security of the National Airspace System (NAS) including oversight of the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC), which exercises command, control and oversight of air traffic activity within the NAS.
Mike has 30 years of experience with the FAA and prior to accepting the position of Deputy Vice President of System Operations Services in 2016, he served as the Manager of Tactical Operations (MTO) in the Southeast region for seven years.
Mike has a broad range of experience throughout the ATO and began his career in the FAA in 1987. He has worked as an air traffic controller, front line manager, and traffic management specialist. Later, he worked as the national traffic management officer, national operations manager and air traffic manager at the ATCSCC. Mike has served in management support positions at the New England Regional Office and in the ATCSCC specializing in developing metrics, policies and procedures.
Mike earned a Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut.
