Basic E3 is a three day program designed to provide an overview of AVN's work, success, and people. This three day program taps into AVN's expertise in various areas. Presentations have been developed that exhibit the successes that the organization has enjoyed, as well as some of the valuable lessons learned. Examples include: Leadership - "How to Get Things Done in a Challenging Environment," "Maintain Philosophy," "Muddy Boots Leadership"; Communication - "Evolution of the National Flight Procedures 24/7 Notice to Airmen Office," "Speaking with Influence & Motivation", Audit & Evaluation, "ISO/IEP & More"; Finance - "An Orientation to Financial Management", capital investments, political implications, and much more; Teamwork, "The Atlanta Project," "Houston Area Air Traffic System," "Partnership with the Air Force Flight Standards Agency," and "LAIRCM - A Study in Organization Objectives".

Picture of man attending training This one day presentation enables the participant to learn key principals of executive decision leadership, organizational dynamics and team interactions through an experiential role play during a time when the world looked down the gun barrel of nuclear war.

This course illustrates an executive decision model, enables the participant to experience the challenge of implementing and managing a "high stakes" executive decision, and facilitates the comprehension of leadership challenges. Finally, the participant witnesses the execution of ten key leadership lesions from a cold war crisis that are critical to successful 21st Century Decision Leadership in government and industry.

Picture of people sitting in training class This half day course focuses on human innovation, discovery, and transformational leadership traits demonstrated to develop extraordinary and revolutionary aviation technology from the 1950's through the 1980's. Participants will be able to understand the organizational dynamics that are applicable for FAA leadership in the 21st century at all organizational levels.

The book "Skunk Works" by Ben Rich will be given to each participant at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the course. The participant will be expected to participate in small group discussions in order to promote maximum learning by all class members. The course will include integrated video clips from the History Channel's "Blackbird Stealth" video and "Man, Moment and Machine" in order to facilitate concept understanding. You are not required to read the book. The reading is designed only to enhance your learning experience and is a voluntary activity.

This course is often presented on the same day as The Innovation of the Skunk Works. It is also being presented as a stand alone. To attend, participants should coordinate through their division training coordinator and manager.
