SHEBOYGAN TEMPORARY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER NOTAM

In anticipation of a significant number of aircraft during NASCAR Cup Series, the Federal Aviation Administration will operate a Temporary Control Tower at Sheboygan County Memorial Airport (SBM).

The Control Tower will be open during the following dates and times:

* The operation of the temporary tower will begin Thursday, July 1st and continue through Sunday, July 4th.  In the event that a NASCAR race is postponed until Monday, July 5, 2021, the tower will be open and these procedures shall also apply on that day.

Caution: Aircraft taxiing A to F or F to A will enter a portion of the non-movement/uncontrolled area, use caution in this area. Taxiway R is a non-movement/uncontrolled area.

Airport Layout

SBM TEMPORARY TOWER AIRSPACE

Sheboygan County Memorial Airport Temporary Tower airspace is 4.0 NM radius from the SBM Airport up to and including 3,200' MSL. Temporary Tower airspace is in effect when SBM Tower is open.

Two-way radio communication is required prior to entering the Temporary Tower airspace.

VFR ARRIVAL PROCEDURES

Monitor ATIS (132.725)

VFR aircraft must contact SBM Tower prior to entering the Temporary Tower airspace.

VFR aircraft landing at SBM should be at 2,500' MSL at the recommended VFR reporting points. Refer to the graphic at the end of this NOTAM for VFR recommended reporting points.

Follow ATC instructions for entry into the pattern and sequencing. Normal pattern altitudes apply.

IFR ARRIVAL PROCEDURES

Monitor ATIS (132.725)

IFR aircraft are controlled by Milwaukee Approach Control. Contact Sheboygan Tower when instructed by Milwaukee.

PARKING

All pilots parking at Sheboygan County Airport should obtain an information sheet from ground handlers or other airport personnel. This information sheet will explain how to get transportation to the Speedway, how to obtain fuel, how to get to your aircraft upon your return, and VFR/IFR departure procedures.

VFR DEPARTURE PROCEDURES

Monitor ATIS (132.725) NOTE: Be alert for the specific pre-taxi instructions so that you report to the correct pre-taxi reporting point.

Contact Ground Control (119.125) when you are the first aircraft at the pre-taxi reporting point specified on the ATIS and depicted as the Red Tee, White Tee, or Blue Tee on the PRE-TAXI REPORTING POINTS graphic within this NOTAM. These spots will be indicated with signage on the airport. If the pre-taxi point is not accessible from the non-movement area contact Ground Control from the ramp.

Advise Ground Control of: Call sign, Type aircraft, that you are VFR (include direction of flight), with ATIS code.

Follow Ground Control instructions for sequencing with other taxiing aircraft. Remain on Ground Control frequency until advised to monitor Sheboygan Tower (134.675).

Sheboygan Tower will initiate contact.

Acknowledge and follow Tower instructions for take-off clearance and departing the pattern. Remain on Sheboygan Tower frequency for further traffic instructions until you have departed the Sheboygan Temporary Tower Airspace.

Contact Clearance Delivery (126.825) prior to starting taxi to obtain your IFR clearance. Advise Call sign, Type aircraft, that you are IFR to (destination) with ATIS code. Sheboygan Tower will not be able to file a flight plan.

Helicopter operations area is Burrows Aviation at the southwest ramp.

Proceed southbound to the city of Plymouth. Follow HWY 23 east bound (remaining south of HWY 23) until SE of the RWY 4/22 extended centerline.

Proceed to the city of Kiel, SBM320013. Follow HWY 32 SE bound. Report the mine. Continue to follow HWY 32 until issued pattern entry instructions from ATC.

FROM THE SOUTH & EAST

Proceed north along the shoreline to the stacks. Report your position reference the stacks.
