GBS F10 - Atlas IIA

Lockheed Martin Corporation successfully launched an ATLAS IIA launch vehicle on November 22, 1999, at 11:06 p.m. EST. This licensed commercial launch took place from Cape Canaveral Air Station, Florida and carried the GBS F10 satellite to a transfer orbit. GBS F10 ownership will be transferred to the U. S. Navy after checkout and is a Hughes Space and Communications Company HS 601 satellite. The series of UHF, EHF and GBS satellites are replacements for the FLTSATCOM and LEASAT satellites and will provide a global communication network serving ships at sea and a variety of other U.S. military fixed and mobile terminals.
