Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services, Inc., successfully launched an Atlas IIAS launch vehicle on 18 June 1998, at 22:48 UTC. The Atlas IIAS, launched from Cape Canaveral Air Station, Florida, carried the INTELSAT 805 satellite. INTELSAT 805, owned by the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization, is a Series 7000 satellite, built by Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space. It is located at 304.5°E and provides simultaneous connectivity over the Americas and Europe for multimedia applications such as digital video, Very Small Aperture Terminal Networks, database replication, software distribution, Satellite News Gathering, stock quotes, live video and audio content, distance education, telemedicine and the Internet.
