GOES-P - Delta IV

GOES-P is the third and last in the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite series developed by NASA for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The GOES N-P satellites are used by NOAA's National Weather Service for detailed weather forecasting and for tracking severe storms. These satellites also have improved Image Navigation and Registration systems that use star trackers to provide precision image navigation and registration, and when used with imaging and sounding systems can provide exact locations of severe weather events. The GOES satellites also provide environmental data and continuous observations for meteorological research. GOES-P or GOES 15 tracks approximately 60% of the Earth, including the U.S. and has an estimated mission life of 10 years.
