JCSAT-6 - Atlas IIAS

Lockheed Martin Corporation successfully launched an Atlas IIAS launch vehicle on February 15, 1999 at 8:45 p.m. EST. The Atlas IIAS was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Station, Florida, and carried the JCSAT-6 satellite to geostationary transfer orbit. JCSAT-6 is a Hughes Space and Communications Company HS 601 satellite that was built for Japan Satellite Systems, Inc. It is a three-axis stabilized, geosynchronous satellite that will be positioned at 124o East Longitude. The JCSAT-6 will carry voice, data and television signals via Ku-band to Japan, the Asia-Pacific region, and Hawaii.
