October 1, 2018, Pasadena, Ca – I Hart Flying's themed scholarship campaigns in 2018 helped 10 pilots begin or advance their flight training addressing the global pilot demand, where nine of the ten awards went to women. "Meeting the pilot demand is our collective priority, yet we must also be concerned with the lack of women in the industry as less than six percent of today's pilots are female. These numbers are disappointing," says Rachelle Spector, Founder of I Hart Flying Foundation and an accomplished pilot herself. "Our goal in 2018 was to award $25,000 in scholarships to women. By breaking down silos and working together as a team with like-minded organizations, we far surpassed our expectations and could not be happier!" says Rachelle.
I Hart Flying added a surprise twist to their recent "Eagles Soar, Harts Explore" Campaign. Instead of awarding one flight training scholarship, Rachelle's swift action to launch an urgent three-day challenge, raised enough funds to award FIVE Flight Training Scholarships! This is a first for I Hart Flying. "These amazing women epitomize what I Hart Flying helps to empower through inspiring and encouraging new, current and future female pilots and aviation professionals," Rachelle added. I Hart Flying would like to congratulate Rachel Scarbrough, Martina Riggin, Chiara Sabatini, Lisa Pickrell and Ella King as the five recipients of these amazing scholarships. Rachel was chosen as the main recipient. She will receive $5,000 towards her flight training and some incredible goodies from our partners. This includes a brand new Bose A-20 Headset, King Schools Pilot Training Bundle Pack and gift certificates to Aviation Life Clothing and Base Turn. Each additional recipient will receive $2,500 to advance their flight training. Great job ladies!
At NBAA-BACE in Orlando this October, I Hart Flying Foundation aims to elevate this success while stressing its importance to expand outreach and scholarships focused on discovering, attracting and retaining talent for our STEM and aviation workforce. "Our partners enjoy collaborating with I Hart Flying, not only for our mission critical activities, for we generate excitement to be involved, to create meaningful long-term relationships with everlasting impact," states Lyndse Costabile, Corporate Relations for I Hart Flying Foundation. "We want our scholars, partners, and affiliate organizations to know they are part of a larger community, one that drives and propels our aviation industry forward." says Lyndse.
