Youth Aviation Adventure's (YAA) Squadron 1 held its 2017 fall program on September 30 at The Ohio State University Airport in Columbus, Ohio. Participants included nearly 110 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Scout leaders and youth who live in the west side area of Columbus.

In addition, YAA staff helped coordinate and participated in The Don Scott Trot 5K on the runway, which was held just prior to the fall program. This year's race celebrated the 75th anniversary of the airport, which in November 1943 was named Don Scott Field, in honor of the former All-American athlete who died in a bomber crash in England earlier that year. Don Scott was a two time All-American quarterback at the Ohio State University, who had participated in the Civilian Pilot Training Program, sponsored by the Civil Aeronautics Administration, while at Ohio State. When he entered the United States Army Air Forces, he was already a commissioned pilot.
