ACE Goes the Extra Mile at 10 Mile!

The New York Boy Scouts have completed their second year offering a week-long, high adventure, co-ed Aviation Career Exploration Academy at Ten Mile River's Camp Keowa in Narrowsburg, NY. The ACE Academy is offered to all youth 14-17. Most campers come from New York, New England and the Mid-Atlantic.

Male and female scout and non-scout campers took part in an extensive program of aviation education and flight training thanks to the partnership between the FAA Eastern Region and BSA-Greater New York Councils.

ACE Academy campers received instruction in flight planning, navigation and experienced flight simulation for fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. Thanks to The Young Eagles and program partner Independent Helicopters, each camper experienced both fixed-wing and rotary flight. Campers also toured airports, airport emergency vehicles and FBO facilities.

Additional program partners include The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Stewart International Airport, Sullivan County International Airport, the New York State Police Aviation Unit, Cessna and Atlantic Aviation.
