Africa Runway SafetyThe Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in cooperation with the United States Department of Transportation's Safe Skies for Africa program (SSFA), is pleased to present the FAA Runway Safety Seminar for Africa. This event is generously hosted by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). The seminar will be held February 6 - 10, 2012 in Lagos, Nigeria.

The seminar is open to federal policymakers, aerodrome inspectors, aerodrome managers from CAA's, aerodrome operations and maintenance personnel, and airline operators nominated by their organizations to attend.

The seminar will provide a forum for attendees to engage in discussions and presentations about runway and airport safety, including improving runway safety areas, runway excursion mitigation airport emergency planning, and technology developments.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has arranged two evening events for participants:

  • A welcome reception for all participants on Monday, 6th February, 2012 at the Sheraton Lagos at 6:30 p.m.

The dress code is business casual.

  • A closing reception/cultural gala for all participants on Thursday, 9th February, 2012 at the Sheraton Lagos at 6:30 p.m.

The dress code is professional or formal. Traditional wear is encouraged.

Important Visa Information

To ensure hassle-free immigration clearance in Lagos, all participants are encouraged to obtain visas (according to your consular requirements) from the Nigerian Embassy or Consulate in their respective countries of residence prior to arriving in Lagos. Please also travel with proof of your current inoculations.

Transportation

Airline Reservations: Participants should make their own air transport arrangements from their residence to Murtulla Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ground Transporation: If you provide your flight details in advance (see registration form), ground transportation will be arranged for you from the Murtulla Mohammed Airport to your respective hotel upon arrival in Lagos and departure.

Transportation to/from the recommended hotels listed below to the NCAA Annex will be arranged each morning and evening for the seminar attendees.
