New Performance Based Navigation (PBN) procedures use satellite-based precision to fly more direct routes, saving fuel and time, increasing traffic flow, and resulting in fewer carbon emissions. These procedures are being developed or are already in place at airports across the National Airspace System.
The original designs for arrival and approach procedures were published in late spring 2015. Post-Implementation monitoring and reporting began in June 2015 which resulted in post-implementation design adjustments to optimize procedures.
