AC 21-48 describes an acceptable means for using electronic modeling systems in design, manufacturing, installation, and inspection processes. Although in that AC we define an “electronic modeling system” as a three-dimensional (3-D) modeling system, we encourage you to use the guidance provided because it identifies the criteria for using electronic type design data and includes requirements for how to access and present the data.
