This advisory circular (AC) provides information on electrically caused faults, overheat, smoke, and fire in transport category airplanes. Acceptable means are provided to minimize the potential for these conditions to occur, and to minimize or contain their effects when they do occur.

Provides guidelines for the conduct of certification tests relating to smoke detection, penetration, and evacuation and to evaluate related Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) procedures.

The guidance provided by this AC is intended to minimize the occurrence of design-related errors by the flightcrew and to enable the flightcrew to detect and manage errors that do occur.

Provides guidance on methods of compliance with the requirements of part 25 of the Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to pressurization, ventilation, and oxygen systems, especially as they pertain to high altitude subsonic flight.

Revision B adds appendices F and G to the original AC and updates references to related rules and documents.

This AC provides guidance and standardized methods that data providers, such as TC holders, STC holders, applicants, and airplane operators, can use when developing landing performance data for time-of-arrival landing performance assessments for transport category airplanes.

This AC also promotes the use of consistent terminology for runway surface conditions used among data providers and FAA personnel.

Like all AC material, this AC is not mandatory and does not constitute a regulation. It is issued for guidance purposes and to outline a method of compliance with the rules.
