This advisory circular (AC) provides information on electrically caused faults, overheat, smoke, and fire in transport category airplanes. Acceptable means are provided to minimize the potential for these conditions to occur, and to minimize or contain their effects when they do occur.

This AC provides guidance and standardized methods that data providers, such as TC holders, STC holders, applicants, and airplane operators, can use when developing landing performance data for time-of-arrival landing performance assessments for transport category airplanes.

This AC includes flight test methods and procedures to show compliance with the regulations contained in title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 25, subpart B, “Flight,” which address airplane performance and handling characteristics.

Revision B adds appendices F and G to the original AC and updates references to related rules and documents.

Section 25.963(d) references §§ 25.561 and 25.721, which also address emergency landing conditions.
