Runway Closure and Temporary Runway Operations

Runway 02L/20R at Kenai Municipal Airport will be closed from on or about May 15, 2026, through September 30, 2026, to accommodate construction activities associated with the Runway 02L/20R rehabilitation project.

To maintain aircraft operations during this period, a temporary runway (Runway 03/21) will be established on Taxiway A.

  1. Runway 02L/20R will be closed from on or about May 15, 2026, through September 30, 2026, for construction activities.
  2. A temporary runway (Runway 03/21) will be established on Taxiway A during the closure period with the following characteristics:
    1. Dimensions: 75 feet wide by 6,025 feet long
    2. Surface: Existing pavement
  3. Gravel Runway 02R/20L will be closed when temporary Runway 03/21 is open and operational.
  4. Apron pavement maintenance and striping will also be occurring on the existing aprons from on or about May 15, 2026, through July 15, 2026.

Pilots should review current NOTAMs and airport information prior to operating at Kenai Municipal Airport during the construction period.
