Core Office Mission

The ATO Performance Analysis office is responsible for the development and derivation of operational performance metrics and for the quality of data used in metric calculations The Office develops and maintains data bases and assessment tools, such as the city pair fuel burn data, the Performance Data Analysis Reporting System (PDARS), as well as many specialized models that predict performance impacts and assess airport capacity.

In support of evaluating and improving the National Airspace System (NAS), the Office of Performance Analysis develops and tracks operational metrics, assesses airport capacity, conducts economic impact studies, analyzes aviation industry trends, and collaborates on operational performance internationally through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) and FAA bilateral agreements.

The ATO Performance Analysis office oversees the activities, studies and budget of the FAA Center of Excellence in Aviation Operations Research (NEXTOR). In this role, the office works with the NEXTOR universities and affiliates to ensure integrity, transparency and cutting edge research.
