Doug Lane
Southwest Region Deputy Regional Administrator
Doug Lane serves as the Deputy Regional Administrator in the Southwest Region. He is accountable for sharing the responsibilities of the Regional Administrator in a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) service center region.
In addition to responsibilities for providing cross-functional leadership and representing the FAA throughout the region, he directs the delivery of high-quality corporate services to an extensive, diverse customer base. He interfaces with industry, the public, and various governmental organizations in collaboration with the Regional Administrator. Doug ensures delivery of quality shared services across the service area for the National Engagement and Regional Operations (ARA) organization on time and in the most efficient manner possible. These corporate services include financial services, command and control communications, and human resource support - integral to maintaining strong, safe, and efficient national and international aviation safety.
Doug has worked for the federal government for over 37 years. He began his career with the US Postal Service. Prior to his current assignment, Doug spent the last 30 years in various Human Resources positions, including Mgr. Personnel Services, Mgr., Safety and Workers’ Compensation, District Human Resources Mgr., and Area Mgr., Labor Relations. He and his family have lived in 6 different states while employed with the USPS.
Doug came to the FAA in July of 2016. He was the Regional HR Director for the Southwest Region. He was responsible for coordinating, directing, and evaluating the work of complex resource management programs relating to recruitment, placement/staffing and compensation. He has served on national projects and programs, including the Workforce Transformation and Tracking System (WTTS) integration; AVS 1825 Barrier Analysis team; Classification pilot and ATOs Aviation Development Program (ADP) pilot.
