Introduction

The City of Chicago Department of Aviation plans to construct at Chicago O'Hare International Airport:

  • Terminal Projects
  • On-Airport Non-Aeronautical Projects (hotel developments)
  • Airfield and Taxiway Improvements
  • Support Facilities

The FAA will permanently implement offset (angled) approach procedures at O'Hare for Runway 10R/28L that were temporarily approved in the 2015 Written Re-Evaluation for the O'Hare Modernization Environmental Impact Statement.

Public Involvement Process

The FAA published a Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft General Conformity Determination on its website and through other notices of availability regarding local libraries and held a 45-day public comment period from June 2 – July 18, 2022. During the comment period, the FAA sought input from the public and other agencies on the Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft General Conformity Determination. The FAA responded to submitted comments in the Final Environmental Assessment that can be accessed above.

Public Workshops

The FAA hosted two virtual Public Workshops on the Draft document.

  • July 12, 2022 - A virtual Public Workshop was held via Zoom at 6:00 pm (Central Daylight Time).
  • July 14, 2022 - A virtual Public Workshop was held via Zoom at 6:00 pm (Central Daylight Time).

Representatives of FAA and its consultants provided information about the Draft Environmental Assessment. Spanish language translators were available at the Public Workshops. No requests were made for languages other than Spanish by July 5, 2022.

Public Comment Process

The public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft General Conformity Determination occurred for 45 days, starting on June 2, 2022, and ending at midnight (Central Daylight Time) on July 18, 2022.
