The Office of Communications is responsible for the direction and management of the agency’s safety promotion, a key component of Safety Management Systems and the FAA’s State Safety Program. The office connects users of the National Airspace System with resources to help them operate safely as well as provide updates to the public, media, stakeholders, and FAA's employees to support the Agency’s safety mission. For example, one of the office’s most successful safety campaigns is From the Flight Deck, a video series that provides pilots with runway approach and airport taxiway footage captured with aircraft-mounted cameras.
Media Relations
We work closely with FAA’s lines of business and staff offices to provide timely, accurate safety information on FAA programs and activities under FAA’s four main goals: Safety, Capacity, International Leadership, and Organizational Excellence. To this end, the office also coordinates the activities of the regional and center public affairs officers.
Employee Communications
We coordinate with the agency’s lines of business and staff offices to provide FAA employees pertinent, accurate, and timely safety information on agency programs and activities.
Communications Support
To support both the agency’s safety promotion and communications programs, we provide web management and graphics and media services, including webcasting, and policy and oversight of FAA’s branding program to make sure FAA safety information and resources are immediately recognized and trusted by the public and especially users of the National Airspace System.
