In 2005, Gant returned as a front-line manager in the Rotorcraft Certification Office and eventually became office manager. In 2009, he took a six-month detail as special assistant to the Director of the Aircraft Certification Service in Washington, D.C., where he gained experience and knowledge about how FAA interfaces with other government agencies and Congress. In October 2010, Gant became the Rotorcraft Directorate’s assistant manager and then Directorate Manager five years later.
Gant worked as a flight instructor while earning his bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University. After graduation, he worked as a flight test engineer for Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, Texas, where he worked on military qualification and civil certification programs.
