Information about the latest version of CARI-6

The current version of CARI-6 is dated July 7, 2004 (see upper left-hand corner of MAIN MENU in the program). The Web site references have been updated. A revised method of calculating heliocentric potential is now being used. The heliocentric potential tables have been updated accordingly. The maximum allowed altitude is 60,000 feet because LUIN code uses the superposition approximation to handle alpha particles and heavier ions present in the primary galactic cosmic ray flux at the top of the atmosphere. The approximation becomes less accurate as altitude increases. CARI-7 should be used for calculations at greater altitudes.
