Description

NOTE: No forms are downloadable from this FAA Forms website for UAS activity. Please visit the websites listed below for all UAS information and guidance.

All Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) aka Drone must be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration's Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) registry. A federal law effective December 21, 2015 requires unmanned aircraft registration, and operators/users are subject to civil and criminal penalties if you do not register. For information and guidance on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), forms, or assistance, please access the following websites:

For personal/hobby/recreational use:

http://www.faa.gov/uas/registration/ (the blue registration button will be activated on 12/21/2015)

For business/commercial/other use:

Certificate of Authorization (COA) is an authorization issued by the FAA Air Traffic Organization (ATO) to a public operator for a specific Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) activity. After a complete application is submitted, FAA conducts a comprehensive operational and technical review. If necessary, provisions or limitations may be imposed as part of the approval to ensure the UAS can operate safely with other airspace users. In most cases, FAA will provide a formal response within 60 days from the time a completed application is submitted.

To better support the needs of our customers, FAA deployed a web-based application system. The UAS COA Online System provides applicants with an electronic method of requesting a COA. Applicants will need to obtain an account in order to access the online system.

Please email the FAA UAS Office at 9-AJR-36-UAS@faa.gov with any questions or for more information regarding Certificates of Waiver or Certificates of Authorization (COA).
