This Advisory Circular (AC) provides guidance for an applicant to determine its hazard control strategy or strategies in accordance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) § 450.107(b). In accordance with § 450.107(b), the hazard control strategies must account for all functional failures associated with reasonably foreseeable hazardous events that have the capability to create a hazard to the public; safety-critical systems; and the timeline of all safety-critical events during a launch or reentry. This AC does not constitute a regulation and does not contain requirements, but is intended to assist prospective applicants in obtaining commercial space authorizations and operating in compliance with commercial space regulations.
