This AC provides guidance and information for developing a receiving inspection system and for incorporation into a person’s existing receiving inspection system to help prevent the introduction of unairworthy articles into inventories. The aim is to establish sufficient traceability to determine that the article(s) were manufactured under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 21, were previously determined to be airworthy under 14 CFR part 43, and were produced to established industry or U.S. Government standards or accepted foreign standards. Like all AC material, this AC is not mandatory and does not constitute a regulation. It provides guidance and outlines a method of compliance with 14 CFR. This is one means, but not the only means, for developing a receiving inspection system. In lieu of following the method(s) prescribed herein, the applicant may elect to follow an alternate acceptable method that achieves the intended results. The contents of this document do not have the force and effect of law and are not meant to bind the public in any way, and the document is intended only to provide information to the public regarding existing requirements under the law or agency policies.
