Description

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance to assist persons in obtaining a repairman certificate (light-sport) with a maintenance and/or inspection rating, including guidance on the privileges and limitations of repairman certificates (light-sport) and related requirements. This AC also provides guidance for training course providers on obtaining the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) acceptance of light-sport repairman training courses. This is a guidance document. Its content is not legally binding in its own right and will not be relied upon by the Department as a separate basis for affirmative enforcement action or other administrative penalty. Conformity with the guidance document is voluntary only. Nonconformity will not affect rights and obligations under existing statutes and regulations.

This advisory circular (AC) provides the public with information regarding the certification of repairmen (light-sport aircraft (LSA)) with maintenance and inspection ratings, the acceptability of training courses, and the continued airworthiness of LSA. The guidance contained in this AC is based on the Final Rule, Certification of Aircraft and Airmen for the Operation of Light-Sport Aircraft, which was published in the Federal Register (FR) on July 27,2004. The rule became effective September 1,2004.
