Order purpose statement

This order provides guidance for the design and evaluation of Performance Based Navigation (PBN) Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs). For the purposes of this order, PBN IFPs are those based on Area Navigation (RNAV) or Required Navigation Performance (RNP) to include transitions to an Instrument Landing System (ILS) or Ground Based Augmentation (GBAS) Landing System (GLS) final segment [see appendix C and Order 8260.19, section 4-6 and chapter 8 paragraph “Equipment requirements notes.”
