Order purpose statement
This order establishes the process for requesting a Letter of Authorization (LOA) for reduced air traffic control separation standards at recurring air shows or fly-ins. It standardizes and defines mitigation strategies associated with reduced air traffic control separation standards during these events and will assist air traffic control and the flying community by providing an acceptable level of safety by increasing participation and individual awareness during periods of high traffic volume. First time fly-ins and previously approved fly-in waivers that are updated to reflect additional waived paragraphs or the application of additional mitigations are not covered by this order.
