Office of Audit and Evaluation

What We Do

We are the FAA focal point for public and FAA employee safety complaints, reports of waste, fraud, and abuse, internal FAA rule or policy violations, and whistleblower protection. We are an independent staff office reporting directly to the FAA Administrator to provide an independent forum for the conduct of objective, impartial investigations and evaluations, thereby avoiding conflicts-of-interest. We operate the Agency's hotlines and track responses to all hotline reports.

The Office of Audit and Evaluation office helps managers and employees resolve workplace conflicts in an informal manner. Our office is not a substitute for existing equal opportunity, collective-bargaining unit grievance, or Accountability Board proceedings. However, we seek to resolve workplace conflicts early and before they are elevated to more formal proceedings.

We also serve as the FAA's Whistleblower Ombudsman and we are the FAA’s liaison for the DOT Office of Inspector General (OIG), the Government Accountability Office (GAO), and the Office of U.S. Special Counsel (OSC) audits and investigations involving FAA organizations and programs. Our mission is to ensure that our responses to these audits and investigations are responsive and thorough. We also oversee the implementation of FAA corrective actions identified as a result of outside audits and investigations.
