Aviation Safety Inspector (Maintenance)

Evaluate aviation mechanics, facilities and training programs; inspect aircraft and related equipment for airworthiness.

AIR CARRIER MAINTENANCE INSPECTOR KEY REQUIREMENTS 

  • Possession of a Mechanic Certificate with airframe and power plant rating 
  • Experience involving the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and systems of multi-engine aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight maintained under an airworthiness maintenance and inspection program 
  • Aircraft maintenance experience in a repair station; air carrier or airline repair facility; military repair facility; or local, state, or Federal governmental agency 
  • Experience involving the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems with responsibility for certifying airworthiness 
  • Aircraft maintenance work experience within the last 3 years 

GENERAL AVIATION MAINTENANCE INSPECTOR KEY REQUIREMENTS 

  • Possession of a Mechanic Certificate with airframe and power plant ratings 
  • Experience involving the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems with responsibility for certifying airworthiness 
  • Maintenance experience with 12,500 pounds or less maximum certificated takeoff weight 
  • Aircraft maintenance experience in a repair station; air carrier or airline repair facility; military repair facility; or local, state or Federal government agency 
  • Aircraft maintenance work experience within the last 3 years

QUALIFICATIONS 

Air carrier maintenance inspectors must have experience in maintenance and repair of airframes, powerplants and systems of aircraft with takeoff weight of more than 12,500 pounds. General aviation airworthiness inspectors must have similar experience for aircraft with takeoff weight of 12,500 pounds or less.
