Description

This AC provides general guidance on asphalt paving operations. The Hot-Mix Asphalt Paving Handbook 2000 (handbook) is in Appendix 1 of this AC. The handbook concentrates on field practices for asphalt paving, including plant operations, transportation of materials, surface preparation, laydown, compaction, and quality control processes.

Cancellation Note: The FAA has made a determination that there is no longer a need to maintain the AC. The majority of the information and best practices contained in the handbook is outdated and contained in other industry documents (e.g. the Asphalt Institute’s MS-22 Manual, the Transportation Systems Center Inspector’s Manual for Hot-Mix Asphalt).
