Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan

Update for 2021

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plans to hire and train several thousand air traffic controllers over the next decade. FAA's controller workforce reached 14,242 in fiscal 2020. The FAA hired 920 new controllers in fiscal 2020, and has hired more than 7,200 controllers over the last five years.
