Summary:

This Advisory Circular (AC) provides guidance to a launch or reentry operator on how to complete the launch and reentry collision avoidance analysis in accordance with § 450.169 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR). This AC discusses: 1) the contents a launch or reentry operator should provide to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to satisfy Appendix A of part 450 for the collision analysis worksheet; 2) how to submit that information to the processing entity; and 3) proper vehicle operator responses to the analysis they receive from the processing entity.

Summary:

This Advisory Circular (AC) provides guidance and an example means of compliance for performing a probability of failure analysis in accordance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) 450.131. A flight safety analysis that accounts for vehicle failure probability is required for launch or reentry in accordance with § 450.113(a). Such an analysis is required under most circumstances for all phases of flight. This AC is intended to assist prospective applicants and operators in performing a probability of failure analysis in compliance with § 450.131.
