Our Mission
AMA-240 fulfills the training needs of the FAA’s Flight Standards Service for the Aviation Safety (AVS) line of business, which includes domestic and worldwide air carrier pilots, cabin safety crewmembers, and dispatchers.
This training is focused on FAA Aviation Safety Inspectors (ASIs) who have responsibilities for Air Transportation Operations, including management ASIs and other FAA support professionals. This training may include students from other Services such as Aircraft Certification (AIR) and Security and Hazardous Material Safety (ASH). Some courses are available for U.S. & International aviation personnel.
Pilot-oriented courses include Flight Simulator Evaluation, Part 142 Training Centers, and Crew Resource Management. More generalized courses include NextGen Technologies; Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), Air Carrier Practical Application Workshop, WebOPPS, Flight Validation of Satellite-Based Performance, Oceanic and International Operations, and Flight Dispatcher Indoctrination.
The training begins with new-hire indoctrination and continues with technical, certification, and surveillance skill set development training throughout the FAA professional's career. A wide array of training methods and techniques are used to continually improve training outcomes, enhancing the abilities of our FAA safety professionals.
In addition to managing and conducting courses, AMA-240 instructors play an active and vital role in developing and revising courses in coordination with the Training Development Division (AFS-500) and the various policy divisions.
In Fiscal Year 2022, the AMA-240 Air Transportation Operations Branch conducted 106 classes with 1665 learner completion.
