150/5345-43H AAS-100 Specification for Obstruction Lighting Equipment

This AC contains the FAA specification for obstruction lighting equipment.  Effective 12 months after the date of this circular, only that equipment qualified per this specification will be listed in AC 150/5345-53, Airport Lighting Equipment Certification Program.  No re-testing will be required for existing equipment where test standards are unchanged from the previous version of this AC.

150/5200-30D AAS-300 Airport Field Condition Assessments and Winter Operations Safety

This AC provides guidance to assist airport operators in developing a snow and ice control plan, assessing and reporting airport conditions through the utilization of the Runway Condition Assessment Matrix (RCAM), and establishing snow removal and control procedures.

For implementation purposes, all certificated airports must submit revised Snow and Ice Control Plans to the FAA no later than September 1, 2016, for approval.  The Federal NOTAM System is the primary means of conveying airport condition information by certificated and federally obligated airports.  Effective October 1, 2016, the Federal NOTAM System will incorporate the new reporting criteria and methodology contained in this AC.

150/5300-19 AAS-100 Airport Data and Information Program

This AC provides general guidance and information for airport owners and operators in the collection and management of data describing the physical infrastructure, characteristics, and services of their airport. This data is source material for the FAA’s aeronautical information databases, for use in the dissemination of aviation information to the public, preparation of government and private industry aeronautical charts, and related flight information publications. This AC also describes the schedule, frequency, and standards for airport inspections.

This advisory circular provides guidance to assist airport operators in the procurement of snow and ice control equipment for airport use.

150/5320-17A AAS-100 Airfield Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating Manuals

This AC provides limited guidance on understanding and rating the surface condition of flexible (asphalt) and rigid (concrete) airfield pavements. Appendices A and B of this AC include the Asphalt and Concrete Airfield Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating Manuals (PASER Manuals). The FAA recommends the information and procedures contained in the manuals for use by airport staff and consultants, directly or in combination with additional testing and data collection, only when it is not possible to complete a more detailed pavement condition index (PCI) survey as part of a more comprehensive pavement maintenance management program.

150/5335-5C AAS-100 Standardized Method of Reporting Airport Pavement Strength - PCN

This AC provides guidance for using the standardized International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) method, called the Aircraft Classification Number – Pavement Classification Number (ACN-PCN) method, to report airport runway, taxiway, and apron pavement strength. Includes instructions for using the COMFAA program to calculate ACN values to determine PCN.

Also provides guidance for reporting changes to airport data that is generally published on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Form 5010, Airport Master Record, particularly those data elements associated with Gross Weight (Data Elements 35 through 38) and Pavement Classification Number (Data Element 39).

The handbook concentrates on field practices for asphalt paving, including plant operations, transportation of materials, surface preparation, laydown, compaction, and quality control processes.

This AC contains a specification for wind cone assemblies to be used to provide wind information to pilots. This AC provides guidance on airport terminal and landside wayfinding, signing, and graphics. It focuses on four areas of the airport: roadways, parking, curbside and ground transportation, and terminal. This version is a substantial rewrite and incorporates the recommendations and guidelines developed under Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Report 52, Wayfinding and Signing Guidelines for Airport Terminals and Landside, completed in 2011.

This AC provides standards for a system of airport marking consisting of certain pilot aids and traffic control devices.

150/5320-5D AAS-100 Airport Drainage Design

This AC provides guidance for engineers, airport managers, and the public about the design and construction of airport surface storm drainage systems; and subsurface drainage systems for paved runways, taxiways, and aprons. It incorporates the DOD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) draft document, Surface Drainage Design, dated August 1, 2006. This revision adds guidance that was not included in the original DOD document. See paragraph 5,, "Purpose of this Revision."
