We work with security specialists assigned throughout the country to ensure the Agency complies with public laws, national directives, and Department of Transportation policies that influence our security practices. This collaboration creates an FAA environment that mitigates risks to our critical infrastructure posed by undesirable events that include:
- Sabotage
- Theft
- Vandalism
- Terrorism
- Other criminal acts
Information Safeguards
The Information Safeguards Program protects the FAA's Classified National Security Information (CNSI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Program objectives include:
- Controlling and safeguarding Classified National Security Information (CNSI), Sensitive Security Information (SSI), and other types of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) from unauthorized disclosure that contribute to the safety and security of the National Airspace System (NAS).
- Identifying Critical Information and Indicators (CII) for protection through the application of Operations Security (OPSEC) safeguards based on a continuous analytic and objective process cycle.
- Conveying security requirements, classification guidance, and handling procedures for classified material received or generated by FAA contractors in accordance with National Industrial Security Program (NISP) guidelines.
