Public transportation
L’Enfant Plaza Metro stop is the closest to the building and services Yellow, Green, Silver, Blue and Orange lines. This stop also has bus service and the VRE Commuter Rail.
To get to FAA Headquarters from the metro, exit using Exit A 7th Street, Maryland Avenue. This map shows you right where you will exit (‘You are here’). Once at street level, cross 7th Street SW toward C Street. Walk up 7th Street SW towards Independence Avenue SW. All visitors will need to enter at the building entrance on the Independence Avenue side.
Visitors should check the Metro website in advance to plan for any closures or changes.
Parking
Visitor parking is not available at this FAA building. Street parking may be available. There are also paid parking garages in the area. The closest parking is the Capital Gallery parking garage at 600 Maryland Avenue SW, Washington, D.C. 20024.
Entering FAA Headquarters
All visitors will need to enter using the visitor entrance on Independence Avenue SW.
Visitors must present a current government-issued picture identification (i.e. driver’s license, passport, etc.) bearing an expiration date and have a designated FAA sponsor/escort. The sponsor/escort must be an employee with a permanent FAA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card. Each visitor will be issued a “Visitor – Escort-Required” badge. The sponsor/escort must maintain visual and voice control of the visitor at all times.
Security Screening
All visitors must go through security screening:
- Going through a metal detector or being scanned with a handheld metal detector
- Putting bags through an x-ray machine and hand inspection
- You will need to remove all electronics and power cords from your bag, if applicable.
Please ensure you have the contact's name and phone number for escort, and request that they meet you in the lobby after clearing security.
If you're attending New Employee Orientation, a member of the Corporate Onboarding Team will greet you in the lobby and provide you with further instructions.
International Visitors
Foreign Visitors must have an FAA employee/sponsor submit a visit request through the FAA's automated International Visitor Program (IVP).
This request is processed through FAA Security and approved by the Facility Manager and generally takes 7-10 days to process.
