Before You Report to Duty

New Hire Forms
Complete your new hire forms in the Entrance on Duty System (EODS) and electronically submit all assigned forms.
You will receive two emails from the EODS system that provide you with system access and login credentials. Work through your Servicing HR Specialist if you need assistance with submission of new hire forms.
Benefits Forms
Review your benefits forms in the Entrance on Duty System (EODS). You will not be able to submit your benefits forms until your start date.

Your Federal ID Badge
Upon arrival to your facility, each new hire will receive information on how and where to complete the steps necessary to obtain your federal ID.
 
New Employee Orientation
Orientation location and times will vary based on your duty location. Work with your Servicing HR Specialist to confirm the location and schedule for your orientation session.
If you required accommodation to fully participate in your orientation, please contact a member of the Corporate Engagement Office: onboarding@faa.gov.
Your Rights as a Federal Employee

Bring to Orientation

Government Issued Identification
Bring two forms of Government issued identification with you on your first day.
List of Acceptable Documents – Form I9
New Hire Paperwork
If you will be reporting to a duty location outside of FAA Headquarters or a Regional Office, please bring printed copies of the following forms from the Entrance on Duty System (EODS).
  • Appointment Affidavit Standard Form 61 (SF-61)
  • Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9)
  • Declaration for Federal Employment (OF-306)

Day One

Attend Orientation
Depending on your location you may attend an in-person orientation or a virtual orientation briefing.

This briefing will include your official swearing in as a federal employee, an overview of our Agency including our mission, vision, strategic priorities, organizational structure, and an introduction to federal benefits programs available to you.

Orientation location and times will vary based on your duty location. Work with your Servicing HR Specialist to confirm your schedule.

Life Insurance Program Information
You will receive two emails from the EODS system that provide you with system access and login credentials. Work through your Servicing HR Specialist if you need assistance with submission of benefits forms.
Establish your Employee Express Account
This is the system you will use to view or make changes to:
  • Direct Deposit
  • Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
  • Home address
  • Many other actions
You will automatically receive an EEX pin from the Office of Personnel Management via US mail within six weeks. Use this pin to access EEX and follow the instructions provided in the letter to establish your account.

Optional Benefits Forms

Beneficiary Forms
If you are satisfied with the Order of Precedence you do not need to file any designations.
If you do choose to submit a designation, it's important to ensure your designations are current. A designation will be valid even if your relationship or family situation has changed. These forms can be completed and submitted at any time.
Submit beneficiary forms to the appropriate point of contact for each form. All forms require two witnesses to your signature. Anyone can sign as a witness as long as they are not named as a beneficiary.
  • SF-2808 CSRS: submit to OPM (see form instructions)
  • SF-1152 Unpaid Comp: submit to Servicing HR Specialist
  • SF-2823 Life Insurance: submit to Servicing HR Specialist
  • SF-3102 FERS: submit to Servicing HR Specialist
  • TSP-3 Thrift Savings Plan: submit to TSP (see form instructions)
