The FAA will conduct drone-detection testing near Santa Teresa, New Mexico, from June 16-27. 

The FAA’s Center of Excellence for UAS Research (ASSURE), in coordination with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Doña Ana County International Jetport, will conduct the testing. State and local first responders will also participate.  

As part of the FAA’s continuous efforts to improve safety in the National Capital Region, the agency has published modifications to helicopter zones and routes around Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). 

The FAA is in contact with the NTSB regarding Air India flight AI171, operating from Ahmedabad (AMD) to London Gatwick (LGW), that was involved in an accident in India on Thursday, June 12.

When an international incident occurs, that government leads the investigation. In the event assistance is requested, the NTSB is the official U.S. representative and the FAA provides technical support. We stand ready to launch a team immediately in coordination with the NTSB.

As part of ongoing progress at Newark, FAA confirms limited flights through 2025 

WASHINGTON — Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration, airline industry and labor organizations met Monday to share safety best practices and discuss how to make the world’s busiest air transportation system even safer.

“Commercial airline travel remains the safest form of transportation in world history,” said Acting FAA Administrator Chris Rocheleau. “But the last three months drove home that we need to do more, we need to be better, and we need to do it together.”
