WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration is proposing an $89,500 civil penalty against SnackMagic of Long Island City, New York, for allegedly violating the hazardous materials regulations. 

The FAA alleges the company offered three shipments containing hazardous materials to DHL Express for transport by air.  The waybills stated the shipments contained T-shirts in various sizes, but they in fact contained a total of 99 hazardous lithium-ion power bank batteries.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has signed an agreement with Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, to become the next school for the Enhanced Air Traffic – Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) program. 

Embry–Riddle will join Tulsa Community College and the University of Oklahoma as the first schools to offer the same thorough curriculum and advanced technology offered at the FAA Air Traffic Controller Academy in Oklahoma City.

WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration updated its BasicMed regulations to allow pilots to operate larger aircraft and carry more passengers. 

BasicMed, which took effect in 2017, allows pilots to fly without holding an FAA medical certificate provided they meet certain conditions.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ended Fiscal Year 2024 with a record 148 licensed commercial space operations, up more than 30 percent over the prior year. The FAA forecasts that number may more than double by FY 2028 and is launching an Aerospace Rulemaking Committee to update the FAA’s Part 450 launch and reentry licensing rule.

WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced today that Bahrain achieved its first International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) with a Category 1 rating. 

Under the Category 1 rating, Bahrain’s civil aviation authority follows the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) safety standards. It can provide service in the United States and enter into code-share agreements with U.S. carriers without limitation.
